McGahon Sisters Make a Splash!

Congratulations Shauna and Claragh!

Sisters Claragh McGahon (Rang Ealga) and Shauna McGahon (Rang Blathnaid), both represented the school at the Ulster Schools Swimming Championships held in Bangor on October 17th.
Claragh was competing in the 13/14 yr age group where she claimed a bronze medal in the 100m
back crawl event. She also reached the final of the 100m butterfly event finishing in 7th place.
Shauna was competing in the 17/19 yr age group where she claimed a bronze medal in the 200IM event. She also reached the final of the 100m butterfly event finishing in 4th place.
Both girls will swim under the same age bracket next year at these championships. They are both members of Sliabh Beagh Swimming club in Monaghan. Training starts at 6am, lasts for 2 hours and they could swim anywhere between 4500 and 6000 meters, 5 mornings a week before heading into school.

Everyone in the school community is delighted that their dedication and commitment to serious training has paid off for Shauna and Claragh. We all wish you well in future competitions!
