St. Louis student scoops 8 A1s in the Leaving Cert!

The 95 girls in the class of 2015 were all feeling anxious when they collected their Leaving Cert results on Wednesday August 12th. They were nervous because their hopes of a place in 3rd level education rest on two years of study funnelled into two weeks of exams in June.
Shrieks of surprise and whoops of joy could be heard just minutes after the envelopes were handed out. "I know you will be pleased" were the words of Mrs. English to Doireann Gordon as she handed her envelope over. Doireann is one of those unassuming quiet students who work consistently and enjoy an academic challenge. She achieved 7 of her A1 grades in Irish, English, Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Music, all at Higher Level and then studied French outside of school and achieved A1 at Ordinary Level.
Human Genetics in Trinity is Doireann's first choice for 3rd level. And she will be in good company as a number of her classmates have also reached the high points threshold required by Trinity. Doireann travelled to St. Louis Carrickmacross every school day for 2 years from her home in Monasterboice, Co. Louth. Her teachers at St. Louis are all delighted that her long commute and consistent work have paid off handsomely.

Well done Doireann!
